We classify wind turbines into two categories according to their direction of operation – vertical axis wind turbines and horizontal axis wind turbines.
Vertical axis wind turbine is the latest wind power technology achievement, with low noise, light starting torque, high safety factor and wider application range. However, its own production cost is relatively high and the launch time is relatively short, so only projects or buyers with high product quality requirements choose vertical axis wind turbines.
In contrast, horizontal axis wind turbines are applied earlier, with lower overall material processing costs and high power generation efficiency, but their starting wind speed requirements are higher, and the noise coefficient is also 15dB higher than that of vertical axis. In farms, road lighting, island , the use of mountain power supply systems is more common.
Therefore, both vertical axis wind turbines and horizontal axis wind turbines have their own advantages and disadvantages, and which one to choose should depend on your application needs.
